What Is DID Awareness Day?

Dissociative Identity Disorder, more commonly referred to as simply DID, is a dissociative disorder that develops as the result of severe trauma in early childhood. The aim of the DID Awareness Day is to educate about the often-misunderstood disorder and dispel the many myths and stereotypes that surround it while encouraging support and compassion for those with DID, and advocating for better treatment from professional medical communities. It also aims to educate about related disorders that are less well known, like the conditions that fall under the Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (OSDD) umbrella.
